Lupe Fiasco Words I Never Said Lyrics:

[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud Inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said
[Lupe Fiasco]
I really think the war on terror is a bunch of b**s**t
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip?
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it?
Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups

Your childs future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, thats on the up and up
Keep you at the bottom but tease you with the uppercrust
You get it then they move you so you never keeping up enough
If you turn on TV all you see’s a bunch of “what the f-cks”
Dude is dating so and so blabbering bout such and such
And that aint Jersey Shore, homie thats the news
And these the same people that supposed to be telling us the truth
Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say s**t
Thats why I aint vote for him, next one either
I’ma part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful
And I believe in the people.
[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said
[Lupe Fiasco - Verse 2]
Now you can say it aint our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
Murdering is not Islam!
And you are not observant
And you are not a muslim
Israel don’t take my side cause look how far you’ve pushed them
Walk with me into the ghetto, this where all the K**h went
Complain about the liquor store but what you drinking liquor for?
Complain about the gloom but when’d you pick a broom up?
Just listening to Pac aint gone make it stop
A rebel in your thoughts, aint gon make it halt
If you don’t become an actor you’ll never be a factor
Pills with million side effects
Take em when the pains felt
Wash them down with Diet soda!
Killin off your brain cells
Crooked banks around the World
Would gladly give a loan today
So if you ever miss payment
They can take your home away!
[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said, never said
I can’t take back the words I never said
[Lupe Fiasco - Verse 3]
I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence
Fear is such a weak emotion thats why I despise it
We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth
So scared of what you think of me, I’m scared of even telling you
Sometimes I’m like the only person I feel safe to tell it to
I’m locked inside a cell in me, I know that there’s a jail in you
Consider this your bailing out, so take a breath, inhale a few
My screams is finally getting free, my thoughts is finally yelling through
[Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud Inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said

The verse i chose:
“I really think the war on terror is a bunch of b**s**t
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip?
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it?”.

I choose this because Lupe tries to illustrate that we are all lied to on a daily basis and exploited for monetary gain and how he is against the war. The line where he mentions word trade center 7; Word trade center 7 housed all sorts of legal documents and at the time the documents containing the evidence of the famous ENRON scandal. Somehow WTC 7 collapsed. Then Lupe mentions the war, we were all lied to and scared into believing that Iraq has WMD's and ties with Al-Qaida; The government and CIA fabricated reports and lied to us to go to war. Why did we go to war? For money! Think of all the corporations who make profit off of the weapons manufacturing, vehicles, clothing, food, etc. This is what Lupe tried to portrait in this verse that I have chosen.

Analyze of the song:
What this song is about in my prospective is about  America and how corrupted everyone in power has become, and how people have become blind by the media. What Lupe is talking about is real. In America over the past few years, big businesses in nearly every industry have become so highly consolidated that there is no competition, creating virtually a monopoly. All major mass media like TV and radio station companies are now owned by 6 large corporations. They have gained the power to control and dictate what information we receive. Effectively they have the ability to control what we think about, and what we view as the truth. Some major news networks will try to lie about certain stories to give you a false idea of what really happened. When there is a monopoly in any industry, it is dangerous and allows for a minority power to control all aspects of the industry and even control prices to what they please. A monopoly in mass media is dangerous because it harms the democratic process of our country. The news media is where we get all our information from. Since a few corporations dictate the information flow, Media Hegemony can come into play. With this monopolization of media, news quality has also gone down, hence the jersey shore reference in Lupe's lyrics. Who cares if so and so broke up? Why do we need to know about that? Because they want to make money! The news is becoming more of entertainment than news. The world has come down to the “news” being reality shows and celebrities scandal’s that we have forgot what the world is going through. Lupe also talks about fear. He is referring to our current society, where people are afraid to speak their opinions and be different, of fear of being ostracized. Even some journalists are afraid of telling the truth of fear of being ostracized or losing their job because their boss at the top may not like the truth, because it may hurt his or her profits. That’s mainly what the song means.

Topic .12

Truman Doctrine: part of the Containment Policy, the US gives money to countries to fight communism, part of the US' Post WWII foreign policy

Containment Policy: keep communism from spreading, contain communism, expel communism out of foreign countries, part of the US' Post WWII foreign policy

Bay of Pigs Invasion (similarities to Invasion of Panama): US wanted to overthrow government in Panama and put in democracy, Cuba was invaded by exiles from Cuba to try to overthrow the government and US wanted to establish democracy

US Foreign Policy with Regard to Korea and Vietnam: contain communism so other countries don't fall to it (Containment Policy), give money to countries threatened by communism (Truman Doctrine), US and other top countries head the decisions of the U.N.

Cold War Development: mostly between Russia and the US, communism vs. democracy, the space race, development of nuclear weapons, and the Cuban Missile Crisis fueled the Cold War, when the USSR starts to become as advance as the US, the US becomes scared and feel threatened, the USSR's possession of nuclear weapons scares the US, the Us wants to stop the spread of communism

War Powers Act: the President can only go to war with Congress' permission, in Vietnam and Korea, the US was involved in these conflicts for years without declaring war

WWII Foreign Policy vs. Post WWII Foreign Policy: In WWII, the main goal for the US was to win the war at all costs and defeat the Nazis. In Post WWII, the main goal was to contain communism as stated in the Containment Policy, including, giving aid to countries threatened by communism (Truman Doctrine).

Limited War: when a country is involved in a conflict, but doesn't use all of its resources. Limited War Ex: Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan Total War: WWII

Main Points of the Division of Germany: Communist East Germany and East Berlin were ruled by the Soviet Union, Democratic West Berlin and West Germany were ruled by France, Great Britain, and the US, fencing, soldiers, and later on, the Berlin Wall separated the two sides, Berlin was in the middle of communist East Germany, Braidenburg Gate was the main passage way from East Germany to West Germany, was built by the Soviet Union

Douglass MacArthur Dismissal: MacArthur pushed the North Koreans back further than the original border, where he was supposed to push them back to, he didn't listen to the President, he made public statements against the president

Korean War Similarities with Persian Gulf War: both countries were invaded by other countries, North Korea invaded South Korea and Iraq invaded Kuwait, the US fought the wars of other countries, original borders between the Koreas and between Iraq and Kuwait needed to be reestablished

Nuclear Ban Test: countries containing known nuclear weapons agreed to sign a treaty not to test nuclear weapons, but some countries, like the US, still test nuclear weapons

Long Term Effect of Vietnam: the war divided America over which side people were on, this still influences how war is viewed today (Democrats and Republicans and hawks vs. doves), the war got rid of the draft, death, cancer and other illnesses from Agent Orange, Vietnamese migration to the US, brought down the Nixon administration

Peace Corps: a way to help third world countries, help build wells, schools, was a way for people to get out of the draft to Vietnam

End of Cold War (the event that marked it): the Fall of the Berlin Wall

Domino Theory: one nation falls to communism the next country will fall as well, caused a fear of communism and made this fear caused the US to get involved in wars against communism, other countries near communist countries were more at risk

Nixon's Detente: eased tensions between the US and the USSR, peaceful coexistence, Nixon and Brezhnev had multiple meetings and signed treaties to come to agreements and ease tensions.

survey

W: 18 HS 15 College
AA: 9 HS 4 College
H: 16 HS 10 College
A: 3 HS 2 College

For the most part when doing this survey most of the kids I asked they’re parents graduated from high school and went to college. The parents that didn’t go to college were for economic reasons or situations that didn’t let them go to college. I believe that it’s hard to do something when you have hard circumstances on the way of your goals, but for the most part most parents did end up going to college, witch in my eyes it seems like their kids will too.

Meritocracy

Meritocracy is an elite group of people whose progress is based on ability and talent rather than on class privilege or wealth. During the time of segregation meritocracy was the complete opposite. People had a bigger opportunity in progress due to their social class and wealth which mostly involved white people. Colored people did not have nearly half as much of privilege and opportunity as the white. Whether it was in school or at work.
In A Class Divided, where the students perform better on the phonics task when they are in the group labeled superior than when those same students are in the group designated as inferior. Is an example of meritocracy, although it may be true people don’t have the same mind set while working with the superior or the inferior group. I believe that you shouldn’t set your mind on how far or how much you will achieve according to the people around you. That should be a personal goal whether you are working with the best or the worst.

I am ..

I am different

I wonder if they know how I feel,
I hear the anger in their voices when they speak to me.
I see the rage in their eyes when they look at me.
I want to be accepted that’s all.

I am different

I pretend I’m okay when I’m really not.
I feel scared every time I open my eyes and see reality.
I need to be strong.
I worry I will fail one day and give up.
I cry every day when I go to sleep.

I am different

I understand I am not the same as others.
I believe in faith and good things will come my way.
I dream of a change that soon will happen.
I try to be optimistic,
I hope it will all pay off.

I AM DIFFERENT

Concept Guide : Topic 11

MLK and Civil Disobedience- Martin Luther King Jr believed that if someone hits you, never hit back. If you hug them, it will have a better impact then lowering to their level.

Power of the "Mob"- If there is more than one person; it is most likely easier to complete your mission. On the opposite side, it is much easier to destroy an organization with violence.

Plessey v. Ferguson vs. Brown v. Board of Education- This deals with Brown's daughter not being able to go to the closest school to where they lived because it was a "white" school. So she'd have to she'd have to travel just to get to class on a daily basis. Brown's argument was they should have the right to go to each school and attacked the law of "separate but equal." Brown's argument was accounted for and became a law, although each school could have as much time as they wanted to become segregated.

Civil Rights Goals- To end segregation and make everything EQUAL and NOT separated.

Eisenhower’s Role in Little Rock- He called in the military to help the 9 enter the school without harm. This process was against the orders of Orville Faunus and the National Guard

Chavez and the United Farm Workers- Chavez organized two strikes, boycotted grapes, and was anti-immigration. He fought for the Mexican-American's rights

FHA and ADA- FHA is the Fair Housing Act. -This act outlaws refusal to sell a home because of race, color, etc. ADA is the Americans with Disabilities Act. This act provides facilities for the disabled Americans. For example, ramps instead of stairs, larger bathrooms, shorter water fountains, etc.

Purpose of Filibusters- To convince others to fight for what is right and what they believe in. When Martin Luther King Jr made his remarkable speech, many people became followers on his views on the situation.

Sit-Ins and Other Protests- The sit-ins were when any person (not only African Americans) would sit down, pick up and menu, and wait to be served. If they weren’t served, they would just sit there while people would throw stuff at them. The Montgomery Boycott was when the blacks refused to ride any bus. They would carpool or walk before spend a dime to ride in the back of the bus.

SEXist!

1950 Armour Canned Meats #023619

This picture for me is sexist because it technically saying that man can’t cook. “Two easy meals men really go for”. Since they are in a can it’s easy just to put it in a plate and call it dinner. And in this picture it’s saying that they go for the easy things.
