This represents James B. with his kids. It shows how great and loving father he is. I chose this scene because he fought so much for them to get them a better place that they were in, to at least put food in the table. It shows how great of a father he is. When his kids left without his noticed he did everything in his power to be able to get them back and for me that showed so much of how he really is. He is a great father that would let anything happen to his kids and I chose this because I wish there was someone in my life like that.

with hope you can succeed : Cinderella man

The Great Depression  in the 1920’s had hit everyone hard especially the less fortunate. In the case of James Braddock he is forced into working on the docks and has many challenges to face like them cutting out the electricity because he can’t pay. He is a so called washed up boxer after he broke his hand twice. After him fighting for a long time he couldn’t do it anymore because of his hand, till his former trainer, Joe Gould offers him a “onetime only fight” for a great deal of money that he couldn’t refuse. That fight turned into many more fight and the money that he needed kept coming in. with money coming in for his wife and kids and they couldn’t be more thankful his wife was also worried about her husband’s wellbeing.  She starts to worry about hi, more when his fighting takes him to championships and has to fight Max Baer in The fight of the century. She knew that he was the most feared man in the ring and was afraid for her husband. Max Baer had killed two men before in his previous fights and with that record of course she was worried. She tells James not to take the fight for his safety, but he can’t refuse him because the people see him as a hero and an inspiration. He didn’t want to let them down. His wife shortly comes to her senses and wishes him luck. After many rounds going down and no k’o is made the judges finally draw down and conclude that James Braddock is the winner.

Genocide -.-

Yes, I think the US should get in countries that are currently threatened by genocide. I made this decision because the people that are getting hurt by this tragic occasion that they are going through. If the US can help stop this I think it is for the best. They are doing a great cause to stop it. No one should stop and just watch a genocide go by. The US may lose many people battling and trying to stop something they weren’t involved in but it is for the good of others too. I just think the US should get involved in countries that have genocide.

letter (:

"Between December 1937 and March 1938 one of the worst massacres in modern times took place. Japanese troops captured the Chinese city of Nanjing and embarked on a campaign of murder, rape and looting." - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/223038.stm

Dear principals of ALL schools,
I am a junior in high school, and i just came to hear of the rape of Nanjing. I came to find out that i was fortunate to learn about this topic because too often in high schools around the country. They "deny" certain history, whether it is edited out of a textbook or censored by a school board. I don’t agree with this at all. I find that we should all learn what has happened in history no matter how tragic it might be. Life is hard and us as high school students know and understand that. What happened in the “Rape of Nanking” is a hard topic to touch and it is very disturbing but we’ve seen and heard many things that bother us and its just part of life. I feel like as a student in American history honor’s I should be teached about history like this because it will increase our knowledge and let us know how things were back in the day at some point. I think that all students should touch subjects like this. It is important for our knowledge.
                                                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                                                    Vreny Gonzalez
