Yellow-Journalism

During the 1890s, journalism that sensationalized and dramatic events was a powerful force that helped propel the United States into war with Spain.Yellow journalism a type of journalism that presents little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspapers. Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism. Yellow Journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion.Yellow journalism has taken on a new meaning. Modern journalists are in a race to be the best, and thus, often use false or semi-false sources. Or add something to a story to make an already sensational story even more sensational. Like for example The U.S.S. Maine it catches many peoples attention and for them they have many opportunities when it comes to this title.

SOA

SOA stands for The School of the Americas it is a combat training school for Latin American soldiers, located at Fort Benning, Georgia. Initially established in Panama in 1946, it was kicked out of that country in 1984 under the terms of the Panama Canal Treaty. The SOA, frequently dubbed the “School of Assassins,” has left a trail of blood and suffering in every country where its graduates have returned. The SOA has trained over 60,000 Latin American soldiers in counterinsurgency techniques, sniper training, commando and psychological warfare, military intelligence and interrogation tactics. These graduates have consistently used their skills to wage a war against their own people.
I do think the United States should be able to operate such an prganization and train people in the practice of the coup d'etat. because this group has worked very hard to stand where they are and that is what the united states is all about. about not giving up on something they want. This group has dome so many things for other coontrys like colombia. They try to do something different and the united states would help if they join.

weekly #1

I agree with the blogging process for many reasons. Blogging is putting all your knowledge together and putting your opinion with it. I like this because it gives me a chance to express my self with the topics we are learning about and I find it very interspersing. I like blogging so much better than writing it down on paper because usually writing assignments  we just have to go along with the topic but with blogging we get to express our thoughts about this.

blogs blogs blogs :)

I liked blogging better than writing in a paper because its way faster than actually writing everything by hand. I can easily get the information and apply it right in the spot. We had many topics to choose from and that helped me in a way that I could pick a topic that would bore me. It made it easier because most of the time I’m in the computer so I would just get right to my homework. Writing in pen and paper is very boring and I get annoyed easily.

favoritee :)

The blog topic that was my favorite from this first quarter would have to be the 6 word story we had to write because it made me think how to write a full story with only 6 words. I found it very interesting and liked it a lot :)

- Ellis Island

After exploring the primary documentary photographs from Ellis Island website, the feelings that the immigrants felt wile coming to the united states at the turn of the century must have been were very sad and lost in hope. You can tell in their eyes that the only thing they wanted was to be happy and be able to sustain there family. Things must have had been very hard for them around that time and they were lost for help. They were many people wanting help just wanting to live a life that they had imagined it. It was very sad to see the pictures and just imagine all the things they had to go through. The experiences that they face must of not had been easy, but they had to fight till the end and keep their head up high.
